Noted adventure, landscape, and lifestyle photographer Michael DeYoung will be giving a 5-day photography workshop focusing on incorporating the human element — athletes and adventurers — into the dramatic mountain, canyon and river landscapes of Taos and Taos Ski Valley.Participants will learn creative composition, lighting, action, art direction, and design techniques to create compelling images that convey a strong sense of place, emotion or action. Tuition for the workshop is $1,085 and includes all instruction, critique sessions, on-location photo sessions, and all model and location fees. Workshop attendees are responsible for their own travel arrangements including air and hotel. Special hotel rates have been made with the Edelweiss Lodge.
Michael DeYoung is a well-published adventure, landscape, and lifestyle photographer. He was named “Master of Outdoor Lifestyle” Photographer by Digital Photo Pro and won first place in Photo District News’ 2011 Great Outdoors Photography Contest in the Parks & Safaris category.
Michael creates images for advertising, corporate, and editorial clients and his work appears regularly in a variety of publications, calendars, cards, catalogs, brochures, corporate websites and many other places.
He has created work for several vacation destination guides including the Alaska State Vacation Planner, Anchorage Visitor’s Guide, Seward Visitor’s Guide, Taos Visitor’s Guide, Taos Ski Valley Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Guide, and was recently hired to shoot an outdoor recreation
print ad campaign for South Carolina Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Also an accomplished workshop instructor, DeYoung passionately teaches and shares his knowledge of landscape and lifestyle photography. He has taught workshops independently in Alaska over a decade and is scheduled to teach an Alaska Adventure workshop for the Rocky Mountain School of Photography based in Missoula, Montana.
“These workshops are a lot of fun,” says DeYoung. “I love sharing my passion for photography, adventure and the outdoors and, as a teacher, it’s incredibly rewarding to see people’s photography skills improve so much in just a few days. Some of my past participants have seen success
in securing stock photo agency representation, selling their fine art images and having their work published in national publications.”
Michael DeYoung Photography is based out of Taos, New Mexico and Eagle River, Alaska.
